Community Health Center of North Port, Inc. (CHCNP) is a private/public partnership that provides caring and culturally competent health care for residents of Sarasota County regardless of their financial status. In 2012, all of the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County’s primary health care services became part of CHCNP.  That includes our clinics, such as Adult Health, Women's Health, Children's Health, and Dental Care.

Federally Qualified Health Center

DOH-Sarasota is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) administered by the CHCNP. No one is refused health care. However, everyone must pay their fair share based on income and family size. Proof of Sarasota County residency is required for certain facilities that handle referrals from primary care providers.

Certified Application Counselors

CHCNP received funding from HRSA (the US Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration) to employ a team of Certified Application Counselors through the FQHC.  These Counselors are specially trained to educate the public both in CHCNP locations and in the community about the new Health Insurance Marketplace (Exchange) created as part of the Affordable Care Act.
