Healthy Start

Healthy Start is a program that screens pregnant women and newborn
babies to identify risk factors for low birth weight and infant
mortality. Healthy Start is free and available to everyone regardless of
income. A team of nurses, social workers, and peer counselors assist
families in determining their needs and provide counseling, parenting
support, childbirth and breastfeeding education, and smoking cessation
services. Classes are in English and Spanish. No appointment is needed.
