Statewide Medicaid Managed Care
In 2011, the Florida Legislature created a new program called
Statewide Medicaid Managed Care (SMMC). Certified Application
Counselors can help individuals find out if they are eligible for SMMC
or KidCare and, if they are, help them enroll.
SMMC has two parts:
- The Managed Medical Assistance (MMA)
Program
Medicaid recipients who qualify and become enrolled in MMA will
receive all health care services (other than long-term care) from a
managed care plan.
- The Long-term Care (LTC) Program
Medicaid recipients who qualify and become enrolled in LTC will
receive long-term care services from a Long-term Care managed care
plan.
SMMC changes the way Medicaid health care services are provided. This
means that Medicaid members will receive their health care services
through a managed care plan. Keep in mind that MMA plans cover
services such as prescriptions, doctors’ visits and hospital stays.

If you are currently enrolled in Medicaid, Medicaid is mailing important
information to you regarding the MMA program to your home. To make sure
