Pathways to Health

Pathways to Health is a service of the Sarasota County Health Department that:

• Assists with establishing indoor and outdoor walking paths in neighborhoods, at churches, schools, libraries, and other places where people get together
• Recognizes existing trails as healthy walking paths
• Works with the South County Family YMCA to coordinate walking groups or activities at Pathways to Health sites

Utilizing sidewalks and other existing infrastructure, these paths are established within the current built environment.  Paths are marked by signs that include a route map, path distance in mileage and steps, and health messages that encourage proper, frequent walking.  (Click here for an example path sign.)
