The Great American Smokeout

On November 16, SWAT Clubs across Sarasota County participated in the Great American Smokeout. Sarasota Middle School SWAT members held signs outside of the student drop off area asking parents to honk their horns if they support a tobacco free life. Students from Robert and Joan Lee Boys and Girls Club put cups in their fence to raise awareness on tobacco use. American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout (GASO) event occurs on the Third Thursday of November each year. Smokers across the nation are encouraged to quit for the day or make a plan to quit. By quitting- even for a day smokers will be taking a step toward a healthier life. Worksites and schools across Sarasota county displayed signs with health information and cessation resources to assist smokers in quitting.
